I take it they're priced by weight? Father in law got 90 quid for one off his Merc, didn't look any bigger than a fiesta/escort cat....?
Either way, better than slinging in the bin!

We get double for OEM cats so if its ford stamped you should get a little more than you would with an aftermarket

It all depends on what's inside it they will probably cut it open to check it if it's what they class as precious metal it will be worth more than a ceramic one. Scrap prices are up and down all the time and not to good at the minute
As for getting £150 for a Peugeot diesel cat id be absoloutly amazed if any scrapyard would give you anywhere near that for it.
I give roughly £30 a cat when collecting scrap locally but then store it until there's enough to take in in bulk.

it was a gyppo that gave me that for it there is no need to cut open a cat to see what is in it , they all have codes stamped on them which if you know how to interpret tell you exactly what is in them
the peugeot one for example has gold, silver and platinum in it hence the £150
if you could be bothered to keep hold of them till you had a massive stock then it would be worth taking them to belgium as they are worth 2-3 times more over there.

these are rough prices for what i get for cats
peugeot 406 £150
peugeot dpf's £200+
bmw £100-£150
vw golf diesel £80
astra diesel £80
ford mani cats £30-£40
ford normal cats £50-£80
saxo's 106's etc.. £40

as its a manifold cat youll get £15/£20 for it as they are worth less then a normal under the car cat the scrap dealer will be able too tell you what is worth with out cutting it open as they have too go on a course an learn the different grade of cats! after market cats (non genuine) are worth £2 as there crap in side they can be told by the large flange round the ednge where the top an bottom of the cases are welded together! hope this helps
i am guaging the prices on what we get for cats etc round here the prices change all round country an what scrap dealers are in the area etc i usually find the further north in the counrty the higher the prices
