Default Engine warning light and MOT

Due my MOT next week and I have a warning light on my dash. Not going to get a chance to get it fixed before it's due, Will I fail?

apparently it's a cam or crankshaft sensor, but seems to have no effect!! economy is as poor as ever, revs fine, flies along when requested, light just sits there shining at me!

btw its a R-Reg Vauxhal Vectra, would ask on Vauxhal forums but trust you lot more )

Cheers

it will now, depending on how strict your tester is. they have been given a couple weeks grace with the new guidelines, so you could be lucky

Doubt its crankshaft as it would probably be playing up. Mates ex gf had an astra doing the same think that was camsensor

Usually it's Lamda sensor or MAF if economy is very poor.

Have to price up if it's worth bothering to repair with Vectras current values.

There's nothing in the new manual pulished on VOSA to say Engine management light on is a fail.
Some other warning lamps on are a fail.

I thought if engine management light was on it was a straight fail now?

From the Guardian newspaper;

There is a breathing space, however. Vosa, the government agency responsible for the MoT, has indicated that up to "late spring" – probably May, although the exact date hasn't been set yet – "failures" relating to the new tests will first be treated as "advisories". This means that if you are tested now and have a warning light that's faulty you will have until the next MOT renewal date to get it fixed.

Also no mention of engine management in the list from VOSA;
