Royston in cambridgeshire, well the engine and body is sounds but the kind person i got it off had a friend of his, apparently a auto electirician, do some wiring and told me a whole pack of lies. I bought the car under the impression that it had a distributor problem as he told me he had a garage look at it and they put a new one on and it fixed the problem, it turned out it wasnt that and it was the air flow meter but thats on the the start. With the electrics the indicators stopped working and for some reason the fuel pump stayed running all the time. The car is now over at a RS breakers and specialist having a complete new loom because he had used speaker wire in the back of the fuse box which caught fire and he had also bypassed all the relays under the dash. the other thing is the brakes had the ABS removed but not done properly so its now having that all sorted aswell, will be good once this is all sorted left me a nice bill though. rsfido_1989 you dont live too far from me Im from a village near haverhill, what meets do you go to?

sounds like alarm wiring making your indicator wiring dogey and the fuel pump was either bridged or wring relay
i think ripping the car to bit to reloom may have been hasty

Yeah, can't help thinking the same thing! A new loom is a bit drastic to say the least!

as I said in your other thread Martin, just make sure you are getting the work done by a decent place that is honest and not making a meal out of a simple job.

If the engine, box and body is sound then the other bits can be sorted, atleast when it is done, you know it will be ok.

May be abit hasty with the loom but there again there could be other hidden problems if he's bodged other problems
