Absolute doddle if you have the right adaptor or if your vehicle is ISO anyway.

Check on an owners forum for that vehicle how to remove the radio, or look in a manual if you have one.

Once the radio is out it just plugs in.

Only thing that can make them a pain is if there isnt enough room behind the radio for them to physically go in terms of the main control box.

Fitted loads of the CK3100 kits and use one myself, superb bit of kit and very reliable.

As per Chip, total breeze to fit and if you have ISO connectors a 4 year old can do it. Budget 2 hours for a really neat install

If the Primastar is the one that looks like a Renault Traffic etc... and has a single DIN/normal sized stereo, then it's about as simple as it could be, there's a fair amount of room behind the stereo too. If it's the double DIN/big sized radio you will probably need the SOT lead, but still pretty simple.

Make sure you have your stereo code handy as wel if you need it.

A doddle. Fit them at work on a few cars. Worse bit is pulling dash apart on some cars when headunits are all inbuilt. if the radio pops out then as chip said can be tough if there isnt much room, very simple tho.

I was thinking about getting one for my ford connect. The van isn't plylined/ no bulkhead, so am i right, in thinking there is going to be much road noise coming from the back?

They can be a little tricky to remove, even with the right keys (you need 4 of them and it's easier with 2 people if you've not done it before). You will also need a SOT/adaptor lead for that.

To be honest, yes it is a bit of an issue, but depends what you can cope with. Moving the microphone closer to you can help.

If you're inexperienced at this type of thing leave it alone.

Stereo is a pain to get out if you're not competent and will need to have the correct keys - some of the poorer versions will require taking the locking mechanisms apart to remove the keys from the stereo and some of them wont release all pins so you may end up stuck with keys in the dash.

It will need a stereo lead to function properly but again if you're competent all connections are available on the back of the stereo including mute - if using a lead be careful to put the remote controls back into the new connector on the back of the stereo.

If it's going in a mondeo and you have the lead its a 25 min job including locating the microphone and an hour if you've never really done it before - Glove box comes out and side panel off the central console to give you easy access and loads of space.

Primastar

If I remember correctly - if the dash is like this http://www.zebravehicles.co.uk/phase-3-primastar.html you're better off going behind the instrument cluster as I don't think theres room behind the stereo.

It will all be torx screws and phillips anyways and as its a van will come apart quite nicely - I think the whole dash top comes off too.

sure is the same as a traffic, single din stereo. Where is the best place to put the microphone as you seem to be in the know.

Cheers for all the replies guys.

Yeh off the top of my head.... just remember it is a van so will be noisier than a car you could get away with on the dash - I've put them on the underside of the top panel before and had no complaints. Just have a play around - depending on what you can be ass'd to do.

In the primastar though it should be iso on the stereo.

Just need to make sure the + - and +/- are in the right places... all straight forward enough.

I'd need to see the back of the stereo as it might look like ISO but some of the GM/Vaux stuff was a 3 block ISO which complicated things.

Also being a GM/Vaux the standard stereo cage holds the blocks in place so you have to piss about with the removing the cage to get it all to fit properly. Good news is there's loads of room below the stereo to hide all the cabling - from memory. I think the ashtray comes out quite easily, 2 x torx screws.

All easy enough to do just need to take it apart and understand what's going on.

On an Astra you need to run an ignition live. Easiest place is from the heater control panel below it, which pops off. It will need a lead too.
