Hello all
Im gonna change my gearbox and clutch on my focus and was just wondering do i need to drop the subframe? Is the power steering rack attached to it. Ive changed a few gearboxes in my time but not on a focus and just have it so any help or guidance appreciated.

 

No you dont need to drop subframe, just disconnect linkages, drive shafts, hydraulic slave pipe, earth straps, earth wires, reverse light plug etyc and undo bell housing bolts, support engine and pull box out

 

And the gearbox mount? I undo the 2 exhaust downpipe bolts too, not sure if its 100% necessary but it does give a bit more room for manoeuvering.

Its very easy, there's nothing on the focus's thats out of the ordinary

thanks guys that brilliant. It looked so close to the subframe that i was sure i was gonna have to drop it. I'll get at it on sat now.

 

Thats why i undo the exhaust bolts. Gives a bit more swing to get the room. GL
