Default Why Wont An Ashley 1.8 Exhaust System Fit a 2.0?

Ashley dont list a system for the 2.0 Focus Mk1, yet they do for the 1.8.....
I emailed and phoned them to ask if the 1.8 system will fit the 2.0 and they said 'No'... i said 'why not?'..... they said 'Just wont, back box different on 2.0'..... Hmm, helpful, thanks.
I see loads of other exhaust systems around, and the same systems are able to fit the 1.8 AND/OR 2.0 so why are Ashley exhausts different, why wont their 1.8 system fit my 2.0? Anyone know? Cheers.

Strange!

Are you talking about a cat back system?

Tell me about it!
Yep, cat back system. They say middle section fits fine but back box wont
I was under the impression they were both routed the same way and used the same hangers etc?

So they're saying that ford built the rear underpan and subframe of the focus differently depending on whether the engine was a slightly large displacement, but same general type? Load of tosh.

It'll fit fine.

Surely you can fit an exhaust system from a smaller engined car to a larger one?

Seeing as each system has to be made for that particular engine.

Depends entirely on the group of engines. Take the zetec se's for example, a manifold for one will fit a 1.25/1.4/1.6/1.7 as the head bolt patterns are the same.

True, but surely the amount of exhaust that needs to flow out of the head is different?

My knowledge is a bit limited to a Btec I did 6 years ago, but by not having the right balance between flow and back pressure it can adversely effect the engines performance, for the engine to have to struggle to get the exhaust gasses out of engine and system can't be a good idea?

But some groups of engines flow a similar amount. I know of 1.4/1.6/1.7's running Milltek Manifolds with good gains.

The back box probably has a different design, perhaps for the gas flow reason stated? It dosen't mean it won't necessarily fit as the floor pan would be the same!

It's a different case if you had a smaller capacity model as the exhaust physically won't fit then, as manifolds oppose each other!
