True, but surely the amount of exhaust that needs to flow out of the head is different?
My knowledge is a bit limited to a Btec I did 6 years ago, but by not having the right balance between flow and back pressure it can adversely effect the engines performance, for the engine to have to struggle to get the exhaust gasses out of engine and system can't be a good idea?
But some groups of engines flow a similar amount. I know of 1.4/1.6/1.7's running Milltek Manifolds with good gains.
