Default JIC fitting to Fuel Rail - Cosworth

Im in the process of putting parts together to fully aeroquip my fuel system on my Saff Cosworth. Ive bought a second standard Fuel rail and Im about to order some AN06 weld on fittings to convert the standard rail.

My question is what material adapters do I need?? Im going to take them to Pirtek and get them to silver solder the fittings onto the rail, but the adapters are available in Stainless steel, mild steel and Aluminium.

I have read that aluminium doesnt silver solder, so was thinking steel would be better as the standard fuel rail will be steel also??

Anybody on here got an idea of which will be better for fitting to the standard rail??

Also, if I do go steel, im assuming the aluminium AN fittings will still bolt upto the steel fittings ok??

thanks in advance.

Hi Pal,

I have done loads, cut the ends off the standard rail, that leaves square section hole, use a steel 9/16 JIC male/male machined down to slide inside the square hole, silver solder the gap, polish it up, job done...

Cheers for the reply. I was planning on using these, and just leaving 10-15mm of pipe pertruding from the original rail and sliding these over then soldering them?? would that not work?

I was advised to use only mild steel when silver soldering which mine was done- i'm not overly confident in the way mine was done - they spun mine down straight and slotted over the original end then silver soldered around the base - they assured me it is fine but i'm not convinced so would like to have it brazed

Does anyone have any pics of the top of the rail handy?

I've got a spare rail to do this with.....and can't figure out the top of the rail for the fitting at the back as the original has a take off, therefore 3 outlets if I cut the end off

thanks
