Don't know if this has been mentioned before but i discovered the other day whilst changing the multi ribbed aux belt on my 4x4 That the tensioner looked familiar. So I thought fuck it I'll take it out and have a look.........


Turns out it's the same as a zetec one!

So if you have a dodgy tensioner on your late spec saff 4x4 or escort cos. ( the one with the big cast bracket on left hand side of engine holding alternator and pas)
You need to get yourself a escort mk5 or mk6 tensioner .
Its exactally the same !

What size cc zetec is the tensioner off 1.6,1,8,2,0

 

1.6 and 1.8 mate

 

Nice one mate. It saves paying cossie tax on one.

Iirc Ford sell the cosworth tensioner for about £70 plus the vodka and tonic get the same part from Woodford Garage around £30

woodford sell for £30????? i dont think so matey last i checked woodford wanted 150 plus VAT ford don't have any plus it would be more than woodford anyway.

are you sure your not getting confused with a cam belt tensioner??

And yes your escort will have that tensioner . I
Couldn't find my spare one so unable to get a part number mate.
What you thinking of getting a genuie ford one or a motor factors one?

 

just been quoted 65 plus the dreaded....

hell of a lot better than 180+ from woodford and everywhere else
