fuel pump rewire
everyone keeps mentioning getting the fuel pump rewired and think i might get it done ( as far as i know it hasnt been done already)
how much would a garage charge to rewire a 2wd cos fuel pump? is it just a case of replacing the live that goes to the pump?
will probs be taking my car to msd in a couple of month to have some greens and a chip fitted and may just get them to do it if it isnt to expensive.

Check to see if you have 12 volts at the fuel pump.
Me and blacky did mine a few weekends ago.We took a live from the battery and used the original relay. Then we ran a new wire from the relay to the pump. Just make sure the wire you use can cope with the voltage. We doubled up the wiring to the relay from the battery and to the pump.

The earth also needs checking as with any circuit it's just as important as the live. Don't be tempted to ground on a rusty spare wheel well etc, if you do the whole rewiring job will be in vain.

i am just fitting a rewire kit i bought of ebay and the quality is poor. it uses the old pump feed to switch the relay-not good.i am using an ignition feed instead.
i have fitted a fan pump loom by paul/NYRS supplier and it is superb, wish i had bought the fuel pump loom of him as well.

It is the ECU that completes the circuit, via the EARTH connection. Plus the inertia switch will cut the power in the event of an accident

I understand that but the rewire kit does not go to the ECU. It merely is a simple way of running a live feed from the battery and uses the old fuel pump loom to switch it on and prime if that makes sense lol
Exactly, but the OP seems to think this is wrong, the original relay's output (87) is used to trigger the new relay (86). This is the 'done' way and is perfectly safe.
Where as at the moment as Phil says, an ignition live will not be cut in the event of accident etc.
