Got to also acknowledge the number of repair garages also on the take, "Do it on your insurance? No problem, just add an extra few hundred pound then."

Never dealt with them when I had my business but don't be surprised if you find their all at it,insurance companies are quite simply thieves,in every way shape or form, the worst scum you'll ever have to deal with.

I'll openly admit that when dealing with insurance companies you pretty much double the quote, but this is because they try every single way possible to avoid paying you out.some even have a 90 day policy, then after the 90 days, send you a letter saying you've rounded up to say 79pence when by their calculations, you should have rounded down to 78pence therefore please amend your invoice and we'll pay you within 90 days,so that's 6 months you wait for the money, plus at least a week for the cheque to clear which in a small business is a killer.

I'm glad a lot of this shit their doings coming to light,if they were fairer about paying companies etc, perhaps even supplying all the parts etc up front then there wouldn't be such a need to overcharge.

Just sorted mine out yesterday and did an online quote first to see if i could get it down. Online price i got was £770 fully comp so i thought that's fine for me. So next step was to call them and take the policy out but when i gave them the online code they said it come back just short of 3k so i spent almost 2hrs talking to some guy and getting very angry as he could not see where i got the price from.........

I then did another online quote the day after and it come back with the same price as the first !! So called them again because i did try and buy it online this time and guess what the fecker would not let me. Spoke to another guy who then got it all sorted for me

If i was an easy target i prob would have just took the 3k price and said ok just do it. You really need to keep your head on with these feckers or they will take you for every penny and if you ever need to claim then they will try every way to get out of it

The thing is there is no one to really put a stop to them taking the piss because the goverment get so many hand outs of them they try and keep them sweet. So i guess we all just have to keep playing there games until something stops them dead.

so the insurance companies are starting to fall out with one another.
GOOD they are all thieving bastards who sit in an office and think up a price to insure you then shirk all responsibility to paying out.

Im shocked when i speak to the yougsters at work paying 1/2/3k for insurances on what are the cheapest range of cars with the lowest power.

Then when I send an estimate in they want to pay out the least amount, i dont know how bodyshops stay in business.

The worst one has to be swiftcover, I had a customer come in, estimate, insured by swift cover, i sent them an estimate and they came back to me telling me they will be paying me £21p/h to repair this vehicle lol !

needless to say - the car went elswhere.

so they robbed the insured for his premium and wanted to rob the bodyshop to repair it

So true,I had a guy turn up telling me he was paying bodyshops £16p/h and I'd need to better that to win the work, cock!!!

I couldn't stay in business from it,it's the one of the hardest trades to make money in as it's so time consuming and liable to go wrong,I don't miss one second of it,particularly earning £0 per week!!!!

As for 17yr olds paying £1-2k etc.

Worth considering that when I started driving over 20 years ago, my first insurance on a 1.0 Mini cost £1350.

In that context, some premiums today seem cheap.

Where did you live?tower hamlets!!!!
Passed in 1993,£550 on a fiat UNO 1.1 but 3rd party on any other car, could tax them as well!!!
Then the same a year later for an UNO turbo,£100 LESS for a mk1 golf gti, back to £550 for an s1 turbo when I was 20 then £500 at 23 for my 2wd staff!!!!
That's a Swansea postcode too which was in the top 5 for car crime back in the 90's.

Re Above. The joys of living in Northern Ireland. We generally pay far more than you guys.

Insurance here is far more expensive than anywhere else in the UK, basically because insurance companies are totally corrupt and can get away with it

Isn't it something to do with the fact that a personal injury claim is decided in front of a jury rather than just through the insurance companies themselves.

Mind you, phoning up and giving the bogside as your main address trying to insure a Lamborghini may not yield favourable results!!!

99% of the time injury claims are settled before it goes anywhere near a court. It is 100% due to the corrupt system we have in the UK.
Greedy insurers who love to pay out to fraudsters and wont pay out to genuine claimants. Corrupt solicitors and repairers who charge a clean fortune, because they know insurers just love to throw money at them
It's a win win situation for them all though. They pay out more, dont bother their arse investigating any fraud, and just put premiums up because it's a legal requirement and we have little choice but to pay.

How can they possibly lose ?
