Default Mfi setup question

I'm having a problem here. I don't know anyone who knows enough of te system to actually set it up for me. Most people say the idle co pot is the co pot for driving on boost and normal driving. But I always thought the allen key thing behind the black box was the mixture screw and the pot on top for Idle only? Looks like I will have to ask a few tuners in Belgium if they can set it up for me hoping they know the system or i will have to drive to holland and drive 168 km's to get it setup by somebody that knows it very well.. Dutch people here will know him very good, bollen racing anyone..
Car is a Rs turbo s2 from '86.

ps I work in a Ford garage but nobody actually knows the mfi system just a few basics.. even I know more of it but i'm not touching anything of the screws on the meterhead.

Thanks

its tricky mate . you will need timing light , co machine , set co to aroud 3 % set dizzy to 12 degree and mark. set turbo actuater to 8 psi = every full turn 0.8 psi then road test that should be set std then if you want to tune on road you will need boost gauge and afr gauge and make adjustments accordingly for extra bhp EXAMPLE set co 3.5 % dizzy 15 degree on 100 octane up boost 16 psi hope this helps

I'm still on standard boost. It's got another camshaft, thing is I don't know which one.Standard cam pulley is still on so it's probably making worse bhp than standard to begin with.. this is the way i bought the car. I've put on new leads, rotorcap, rotorarm, Grp A Coil from MSD, motorcraft 071C sparkplugs and new injectors , just a moment ago i installed a new wastegate actuator but I'll have to adjust that tommorow at work im getting more than 0.8 bar stopped as soon as i saw that was still rising. Old actuator was wound up ALOT was knackerd as hell very soft. There is this guy that does ralleycars , old fords and stuff and he said to me that the fueling for mfi is setup with the co pot on top of the meterhead.I always thought the screw behind the black box was mixture screw

WHICH BLACK BOX. the one on metering head at side the fuel reg electro magnet. the screw on the back is fuel adjustment i dont recommend playing with that

doh , that's the one i meant and ofcoarse i'm not doing anything with that... i know what would happen. But yeah the fuel adjustment screw isn't that the one to adjust mixture while driving normal and on boost, and the pot on top for idle? or am I wrong here

I did a comprehensive three part article for Fast Ford on Bosch KE. I think it would help you in your quest to understand its workings. You will find it in here:

Thanks Stu, really helps alot .
Just a last question, when i installed the new wastegate actuator i put on a pressure thing with a gauge and at 8psi the arm of the actuator starts to loosen the wastegate but does it have to be wide open at 8psi or can't you do it that way as it's inaccurate?

Thanks

If your trying to control boost via amal it wants to be less than 8 to run 8 at the plenum. As long as you have at least 3mm preload and less then 7 you will be fine, just fine tune it to suit.

I adjusted the wastegate actuator arm so it just fitted over the wastegate arm but still closed it and im running a perfect 8Psi now and 8.7 psi ( 0.6bar) peak. drives so much better that the 6.5 psi i had before with the knackerd wastegate actuator. I'm not touching anything with the amal valve don't even know how it works..
