Default 2.0 zetec engine into puma

I have searched the internet for days now, and a little bored lol

Does anyone know what engine mount is needed to fit a 2.0 blacktop zetec into a puma?

It's similar to the focus, but just not similar enough?

Thanks!

I'm not sure there is a suitable Ford one. Out of interest, why a 2.0 black top? The proper puma engine is only 5 bhp down on paper, a few more one torque, but is all ally and should use mostly the same mounts as another zetec SE (I guess its the 1.4 or 1.6, else I don't understand the need for a swap ).

Edit; looking at the state of your Ka, is Zetec turbo the reason?

Sadly the Ka has come to an end and everything is going into a puma

Suspension, brakes and wheels already swapped

So, yea I need to be able to mount the FRS lump!

I've been wondering about this, but there doesn't seem to be much info. My lass has a Puma and we want to fit a turbo silver top into it, just for some cheap fun, but not many people seem to swap engines. I don't fancy tuning the 1.7 myself!

I am sure there is a bloke on here with a build thread who has mounted a 2.0 into a mk5 fiesta, might be worth having a look for the thread, think it is adamb or similar.

there isnt much info because very few people would bother with a low powered engine swap such as to a 2.0 NA zetec E over a 1.7 zetec SE. Pound for pound your money is better spent tuning the 1.7 engine and keeping the front end light compared to the extra weight of a Zetec E.

however a zetec turbo is a different proposition as the power/torque far outweighs the difficulties.

That's just it. With a pikey turbo conversion on a silver top, with a decomp plate, 200bhp is easily possible. To get that from the 1.7 would cost a fortune, and not have any torque by comparison. Especially as turbocharging seems a no-go on them really.

Welding in new mounts is no bother, seems a far better value option to give the car a kick up the arse than messing about tuning the 1.7 lump!

until you realise youve just fucked up the best part of the car ie the handling, by making the front end much heavier

And lets be honest, pikey turbo conversions on zetecs are not that reliable if you want good torque and drivability anyway.

With the right suspension I'm sure the car will still handle well. Just a case of getting the balance right. May end up a bit nose-heavy compared to standard as it will be stripped to the bare bones anyway, but will get round that with some development I'm sure.

It will only be pikey from the point of view of having a decomp plate. Boost won't be massive and management won't be scrimped on, so it will be ok. If it melts a bottom end or two, it won't exactly cost a fortune to replace them

Ka with the FRS lump was awesome at handling... never really understeered

So, this mount... how was that silvertop mounted? And do blacktops and silverstops mount the same?

I'm ok to make one, but I just want to make life a little easier where possible.. I did a lot of fabrication to get the engine into a Ka!!!

EDIT: silvertop uses that back mount, cvh style.. which is ok. Worked in the Ka, would rather go for the proper side mount this time.

I also want to keep power steering and A/C I think this can be done

SHUT THE HELL UP YOU KNOW NOTHING!!!!!!!!
The zetec-r engine is less than 20kgs heavyer than the zetec-se engine!
Not reliable bull unless you try to put to much power in the block.

He knows nothing the weight diffrence between the two engines is nothing.

Easyest thing to do is get the focus mount and with the engine in, level up the engine then mark on the mount where you need to cut down the focus mount to make it level then just drill it and fit it into the car.

Gearbox wise you can keep you std gearbox if you use the focus 1.8 ib5 bellhousing on the puma gearbox. (the ib5 can easly take frs power)
