Default Never ever noticed this before on a car

I just discovered lastnight(after owning my car for 1.5 years) that the brake lights work without the ignition or key in, i know that side lights work as a safety precaution but i didnt know the brake lights work aswell?

my impreza def dont do this,, infact nothing electrical works with the key removed apart from the EXTRA parking light switch on the steering cowling

tbh its not something you will notice as you cant check the rear lights AND be in the drivers seat 80% of the time

I only noticed because i was sat waiting for the misses at the chippie, and normally its a 10 min wait for anything so i parked up and turned the engine and lights off, and for some reason i touched the break pedal and noticed the lights on the car behind
