fitted my new fuel pump today decided to do it properly and go for the genuine bosch item, the pump is priming but she wont start, car was running fine before hand, any ideas guys? cheers Neil
Crack the cold start valve feed open on the metering head to bleed the system, lock it back when fuel comes out. If that fails get some one to crank the engine over and gently push the flap down on the metering head until it starts.

paul i really appreciate you advice but that has went straight over my head! sorry where abouts is the cold start valve? excuse my ignorance please
I had a similar problem when I changed my fuel filter the other day.
Take off the air filter and gently push down on the flap. You should hear a squelching.
If not, there is an air lock somewhere.
I got it going by cranking the engine over with my foot flat to the floor for 5-6 seconds at a time. Once it starts to catch, come off the throttle.
Apparantly the RS starters arent amazing, so dont keep cranking for ages! (this might be rubbish, just what I was told)

As an EX Auto sparks [now retired] , just a few things to try, are you sure the wiring is right way round on Pump, Bosch Pumps are marked on terminal end. Remember brown is "neg". You should not need to bleed system as it will do it itself as Pressure to regulator...then returns to tank. So i dont think Air locked. The cold start injector is on the intake manifold...just to the left ...looking from front, you can slacken the fuel union at the end of cold start injector...switch ign on off....Pump should run for a few seconds... full pressure should come out of this union as its on the main pressure line....be care full hear...get someone to hold a Rag over spraying petrol.
