Default Tyre pressure sensors(rant)

The warning came up on the instrument panel saying low pressure (not for the first time) on my Peugeot 207GT.The ns front was a bit low so as you do I checked the rest only for one of the valves to snap in half whilst removing the dust cap, this was the opposite side too.Fucking great,I was on my way too the hospital so one tyre change later one suspected puncture and now I am also dirty I go off to the tyre place to be told main dealers. They are a common fault so I thought about four replacements £78 each please and £2.86 each for a nut
The tyre place said they can replace with normal valves but I then need the computer reset so thats about £150 this also needs doing when replacing with oem valves. The spare has never been on the car and its a standard alloy and to top it off the half snapped valve fell out of the dash pocket into the ratchet mechanism for the handbrake and jammed it !!.
This is going to cost £200 quid for the cheapest option or about £450 to do it right. What a swizz ! . Update they have just said its £65 to have the system switched off so I know what I am doing now.

thats the problem with most modern stuff nowadays; everything is computerised and everything needs to go to main dealers to be reset

The cheapest rip off bay ones I could find were £55 .Balls to it they are all coming off.The new legislation doesn't come in until 2012 I don't think, but I think thats just for brand new cars having to have them fitted.Stupid computer does not recognize you have new/working ones fitted though hence reset.Saying that this afternoon I have had low pressure warning/no pressure monitoring and puncture French shit !!

Mate of mine has a 207 gti and he had the same problem,he had them replaced under warrenty then they broke again so he got normal valves and got the tyre pressure monitor switched off.The only downside is that when you start the car it comes up on the dash sayng they are swiched off but goes away after a couple of seconds.

Thing is, 90% of people on the roads wouldn't have a clue that they have a flat tyre, or even care. So it is a good system, if only French manufacturers would start making their cars out of proper materials instead of cheese and garlic!

The main dealers this came from got used to seeing me and I used to just get pointed to a tech lol. This bastard car has had 3 software uploads from France and sent off to tech central in Coventry for a month and its still shit shit shit !.The initial problem was total lack of boost. It wont even rev cleanly whilst driving, holds back like hell and I hate it.Be glad when its gone

true, its not just french though, the range rover valves snap for fun as well, the vw/ seat etc use normal valves and use abs sensor to pick up flat tyre, think i prefer that system

The biggest problem for these cars is "anti pollution fault" going by peugeotcentral.co.uk. which mine has suffered from and I am a member on there.
This arises from slow driving to what ever else the car feels like.Made of tin, noisy brakes, lots of road noise and the bugger dosnt want to change gear half the time.I will never ever have another. If the 180 has the same problems it will never reach the iconic status of the 205 1.9 gti.Saying that I purchased a 309gti which I had wanted for quite a long time, drove it from Oldham to S-O-T home and shoved it through the auction within a week because it was cack !.It is supposed to be live and learn lol.
