Default Subaru people-Help needed

Decided to get my car mot'd today as it's been sitting for 8 months now & this is perfect weather for it!

It's a 93 wrx import, got a full de-cat, apexi ecu, front mount cooler, td06 turbo (I think can't remember) otherwise pretty much standard.

Problem is when it comes on
boost around 3k it backs off
Like it's over boosting or lacking fuel?

I'll be honest I don't know nothing about these so I won't pretend to, I bought it on a whim last year as it was a nice car for money but need to sell it now. It passed it's Mot today no problems, so just that to sort on it now?

Thanks

More likely its got a TD05 fitted mate... likely to be a 16g standard unit, still good for c350bhp though.

What happens when it 'backs off' mate?? Who mapped the car and what boost has it been mapped to?? Do you have the Apexi Power FC hand held commander unit??

Cheers,
Grant

My mate had a simular problem with his, the boost pipe under the intercooler had cracked, quite a common problem with the early ones. Might be worth pulling it off and checking the pipe and gasket, its a plastic Y peice iirc

Not sure who mapped it but it's got a monitor on the dash that I've never touched & I know you can adjust the boost etc but it was fine before I parked it up, always does it around 3k in any gear

Yea, my first port of call would be to check all boost hoses... 3k rpm is around the point that the TD05 will be hitting peak boost.

My bet is either The MAF is shot or the boost controller on the drivers wing under the bonnet is blocked.

If you checked those, try the coil packs

P.S Want to sell the front mount or apexi before you shunt it on?
Can supply either a std ecu of top mount intercooler to replace them?

Will consider putting it back to standard as it's got a mint carbon fibre bonnet that a few people have asked about

What pads do you use with the subaru 4 pots ginge?

Was planning on using the godspeed grooved disk with the godspeed kevlar pads?

The first thing to do is check the fault codes. The early Impreza's did not give as much problems with the MAF as the 98 to 00 models. There are 2 black and 2 green connectors near the steering column under the dash. Connect these together and put the ignition on. Count the flash codes, long flash 10's, short flash 1's. Let me know what the numbers are, and I will tell you what to do next.

Faulty MAF on a 93 will show up fault code 23 and it's done as described as above.
