Broken exhaust manifold studs
have got some broken exhaust manifold studs on the 4x4 cos, can they be replaced with the head still on the engine or has it got to come off ? anybody recommend somebody in sheffield area
Bit of a pain. Depends how much is left showing......
You may need to take the manifold off and the turbo to get better access then use a stud remover or weld a nut on the end.
If it's flush with the head it'll have to come off for drill and re tap.

Easy diy, you can make a fixture to hold the drill when drilling the stud, as it will want to slip off the stud, just weld a tube onto a bit of metal bolted down(using other stud) centred over the broken stud.
Best bet by a long shot though is head off and a decent engine shop, the waterways are VERY close to the bottom of the studs.
