Hi my 2000 1.8 zetec has a rough idle,it starts perfect, but once warm seems to tick over @about 750 rpm and stalls easily.it has had a new lamda sensor and have reset the ecu,it also seems very thirsty i.e 1/4 tank = 70 miles, any ideas thanks.

I have the same problem with my 1.8, when idle it sounds like its ready to cut out? only when its warmed up though.
Keep the thread updated pal so will i if i find what the problem is, also will try the above!
I suspect an air leak, spray WD40 sparingly around the inlet manifold with the engine running and see if the idle changes.

Sorry if its a stupid question but where abouts wud i spray the wd40 on the inlet manifold?
also any other ideas on a rough idle? im gonna check out my ICV and see if it needs cleaning. I dont think its my cams as when they were fitted they were set up properly. Are they likely to need setting up again? Thanks
Cams will give it a rougher idle, I would check the vaccum pipe first as this is common for splitting, it's under the inlet manifold and has a 'T' piece (I think it's part of the PCV) also check the breather as well. As to the WD4O you want to spray it near the joint, the idea is if theres a leak the WD40 will change the idle momentarily.
i have replaced the crankcase breather pipe as it collapased when the engine was running.it has evened out the tick over but it is still slightly low but less likely to stall. 750 rpm ish

This turned out to be some sleeving over a pipe had cracked, causin an air leak. quickly slide some new sleeving over, problem sorted. Just got to fix the heavy ass accelerator pedal now!
One more thing, if your car is drinking petrol it is likely to be this, as thats what mine was doing.
