As alot of you know im doing a zetec turbo conversion. I need to cut out all the old MFI loom. Just need a little help on what to cut out? Im going standalone managment.

Do i just cut off all that ive circled in yellow?
After cutting it all out can i then remove all the wiring to do with MFI ,behind the fuse box? (what goes behind dash) as it will not be connected to anything.
Any tips would be great!

I have done mine ready for my cossie loom and it isnt just a case of cutting that part off lol
you will find that the wiring from the mfi plugs go to the fuse box then double back town the other leg that you havent ringed, plus isnt somewhere in where you have ringed the break fluid level plug?
Also dont forget there is the purple relay under the dash for the fuel pump that connects in aswell, you be better untaping it all but remember what is what and which side they went to and follow it all out bit at a time.

i cut all the mfi wiring out of my loom now ive gone efi. I started by sliting carefully through the electrical tape and removed it all but then put little bit of masking tape round parts of the loom to keep it together. I then started at the 2 ecu plugs. I literally cut them off then followed each individual wire pulling it out of the loom. Some will go to fuse box, some will pass through fuse box to go to things like fuel pump pink relay. Does the new management loom have a fuel pump relay? If so u can do away with pink relay completely. Hope this helps a little. Any other questions just ask.

I know its not as easy as that lol I dont need brake fluid level as have pedal box.
Whats the easiest way of doing it?
Untape everything under the engine bay then just cut out what i dont need?

So if i start with the ecu plugs, work my way back and take it out, then follow each plug i dont need back and remove all the wiring?
yeah, if u cut the plugs for the ecus then just follow the wires unthreading from the loom then you'll eventually end up at certain plugs. To be honest i found it alot easier with my loom being out of the car.

ah cool you'll be fine then. Sorry im using my phone at mo and it doesnt show pics posted in threads. Yeah, like i say, just follow the wires unthreading them from the loom. Have u got rid of the abs on your car? If so you could lose all the wiring for that to. Most of it goes back to the green relay.
done mine the other week in 2days didn't rush it at all. I just cut the plugs off then followed the wires and cut them out. easy to do just take your time. i cut out loads of my wiring. basically everything i didn't need.
easiest way to remove is to list what to keep lol...
fan switch wiring ...
green wire for rev counter
reverse light switch wire
brake resoviour plug
temp sendor
oil pressure switch
starter and alternator loom
all you lights ect
earth straps
washer bottle if its in the front like mine
basicaly you remove anything that does ignition and fuel like all the wiring to ecu and metering head... but keep the wires from the ignition switch to the relay on the innerwing as this runs the rev counter and fuel relay... and someone on here will tell you how to use with a coil pack

i must admit i got rid of the relay or whatever on inner wing but i think the cosworth engine bay loom will have this wiring as i know u join one wire from it to the green wire on back of dials.

I dont need anything like temp sendor, oil pressure, brake fluid level etc.
Reverse light wire and rev counter what wires are they? What does the rec counter run off the gearbox?
matt- where did u get your pedal box from and how much was it? Was it a right balls ache to fit? I want to do away with my servo etc as think its a shit set up really.

got it from compbrake mate. It replaces the servo and master cylinder and keeps the standard brake pedal. Have a look at Muz's car in the resto room hes got pics of his fitted. Ive not fitted mine yet so no sure how hard it is to fit looks very simple tho. I think it was around 250 but cant remember tbh.
the rev counter does not run off the gearbox in anyway on a mfi ... it wires into the coil wires and uses the coil pulse as a feed and with that feed is what then powers the fuel pump relay and then causes the injector pulse.(ie no spark no fuel ect)
the temp sender is next to the manifold on the head ... the oil pressure switch is a little blue wire to the back of the block.
if i had the car in front of my i can seperate them in about 10mins lol then its just a case of removing the tape and tracing them back as far as possible and chopping the mfi shit out.

Everyones overlooked the fact that your live feed to the fuse box is circled in yellow. DO NOT CUT THIS OUT! Otherwise you will have no power to the fuse box, and nothing will work. Also make sure you are keeping all relevant earths, as again, nothing will work.
What management are you using Matt? You shouldn't need the pink fuel pump relay as the aftermarket stuff SHOULD have its own relay, like the Cossie stuff does.
I also got rid of the GREEN relay under the dash, as this is for the ABS which I am not using, so all relevant wiring with this was also removed.
You need to keep the blue relay as this is lighting.

I found the easiest way to do it mate was to unwrap every thing and cable tie it back together as you go. It was pretty easy to do in the car.
Then cut the MFI connectors off, and any others you don't need, then pull all the wires through the cable ties and out.
Make a list of what you do and don't need but tbh is fairly obvious when you start cutting lol
I have made a sub loom for efi, so essentially the engine loom is only for lights, oil light, water temp, starter, alternator etc then the sub loom it for all ecu sensors, injectors, fans etc.
Much easier to have two looms IMO
You will be staggered at how much mfi shizzle there is, all my sticky wires filled a bin liner.
Will find some pics

Rob,
also i cut my green tacho wire and taped it back, im running my tacho direct from my ecu/coil pack.
Muz where is the fuse box live taken from? direct from the battery? Its been so long now i really can't remember it lol

Your green tacho wire did you cut out? And not use? Ill be running stand along managment so can i just get rid of it?
cool cheers i'll have a look, pretty sure its intact.
The green tacho wire i cut (coil end) and pulled through into the car, left it there for future use, goes straight upto the back of the tacho.

Thats it there mate, not sure what i comes with in that price but i brought braided lines for the reservoirs and a dash mounted bias and few other bits and bobs and was around £230 i think.
