Where is best to get them, and what price should I expect to pay. Would anybody recommend Ford only or are pattern parts/any replacement OK?
also is there abearing front and rear of the hub or 3 sets or 9 or?? I've never needed to do one so don't know what to expect. Thanks

You can't get a genuine ford one, ford don't make bearings, so long as you get a good make, pattern ones are fine, it's a std type taper bearing fitted in each side of the hub, pop seals out, bearing falls out, drift out bearing seat with a drift on the rear edge of each seat by drifting through actual body, dead easy.
I would expect around £20-£25, can't remember that last time I did one.

The thing to remember about any OE stuff is ford don't make it, they just assemble bits from lots of different suppliers, so effectively pattern to start with, I would trust say a SKF over a ford marked bearing any day of the week.

I used a Q&H bearing as recommended by GGR in the end, got it this afternoon and it's fitted, very impressed with the kit, it cost £30 all in even from goodes which I didn't think was as OTT as some of their other parts prices. It did the job a treat and has stopped the o/s dragging, whining and wandering. Just the n/s to do tomorrow.
