Default Laser Eye Surgery

Who's all had it done?

I went for the consultation about a year ago but then bought my house so that stopped that until i got sorted.

Going again for another consultation on friday and then booking to get it done asap

TBH i have no idea what mine is. I know i can see alot better with my glasses but i dont wear them very much apart from driving. I only went to optician's first because optimax wouldnt accep you for a consultation unless you have a prescription and ended up getting roped into buying glasses ffs

Opticians also said i have a stignatism and they def wouldnt do laser surgery but went to consultation anyway and they said yeah no problem to do your eyes.

Only prob is the 2.5k

i did it about 5 yrs ago,
best thing i ever did.
would do it and pay every year if i had to, cost me Ł3k

i was working in an optitions last week and i sat in the chair, even with the room lights on and no lights on the test machine, and i could read the bottom line on the test instantly.

I dunno where they get that price from. That 2.5k is a sept offer which is half price i think

The 500 per eye is for the basic one or something then the say we recommend you have wavefront something or other etc and it racks the bill up

My sister had it done a couple of years ago and would recommend it to anyone - IIRC within 12 hours she was sat watching tv wishing she had done it years ago!

And the cost? - she worked out at the time her 'new eyes' would pay for themselves within 24 months based on the savings on contacts alone....

Yeah i heard of them too. I will ring and see what prices they can offer after i go to optimax and see what treatment i need is. I think cause of the stignatism they want to use the latest wavefront is it? Which is also the most expensive. Proper price is like 4500 but they are doing a half price offer on too

A guy in works, cousin got hers done in optical express a month ago and have vouchers for 250 off so i will def consider going there also.

so, to the people on here who have had it done- did u experience any pain when having it done? I must admit i hate having my eyes touched by someone else, felt all sick and faint once when i went for contact lens trial as they were poking about with my eyes. Duno why im like that, coz im fine sitting in dentist chair having fillings etc. I really would love to not have to wear glasses anymore. They're such a burden in life to me and i have to wear them all the time.

someone i was seeing a long time ago had it done, one eye was fine no problems, but the other one... well they had a problem with the flap that they make on the surface of the eyeball, which didn't heal properly and caused him problems and he had to go back for further surgery, but he still said that he would go through it all again though for the sake of being able to see in the shower, go swimming without worrying and just made his life a lot lot easier! I just remember helping him with the eye drops, ya have to use them for a while afterwards but thats a small price to pay for good vision i suppose! Im lucky enough to have good vision and not have to worry about it but i know a fair few people who do have and have had problems! IMO Laser surgery is the way to go!

Yeah i said to them when i rang up i had a stignatism and they said come in anyway for the consultation and when i went in they did all the stuff, scanned eye etc and said yeah thats no problem your suitable.

Thinks thats why i ended up buying glasses too cause they told me i couldnt get laser.

Tell her to go get the consultation as its free anyway and they will tell her if its possible

Yeah there is always the odd bad story but the majoirty are all good.

If it was done quite a while ago i saw a programme were they cut that flap with a mechanical thing but IIRC i read or was told in there that they now cut the flap with the laser too so its much more accurate which is good

thanks for the info that is the only reason she got them because they said that she can not have it done. il let her know if it is free there is no harm in finding out whether she can or not.

Go for it, my gf has had it done a couple of months ago and couldn't be happier
had an appointment last week and her eyes are still improving aswell!

edit- she had the full 2.5k(should be 4.5k) package aswell which was reduced back then lol.
we're paying through there 2 years 0% interest plan- waould have been more of a struggle otherwise.
