Probably risk getting shot down in flames here, but i'll let you know anyway
the local Aldi supermarket is selling 60 LED workshop lamps for £9.99 with a 3 year warranty, perfect for a home garage. Its not ideal for everyday use but for the occasional/ weekend mechanic its perfect. http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers...uys3_15683.htm
they are also selling arc welders for £34.99, again with a 3 year warranty. great for a beginner http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers...uys3_15678.htm

yeah agree for the price, they are also selling selection boxes of very useful bits, like split pins, car fuses etc for £3.99 http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers...uys3_15681.htm
i think the heat shrinks they are selling would be great to tidy up old cossie wiring looms in the engline bay.

I was there at 9:00 am this morning, went in, took a look.
And guess what,
So it need wiring into your fuseboard. HA HA HA. I have provision to do it, can do it but just not willing. Would rather buy a decent tool in the first place.
Whats the betting these little beauties will be tripping fuses and melting wire up and down the country? Buy a £35 welder, if you need it turning off, call the fire service.
Thanks to the guy that posted it, but I for one didn't bother as soon as I read that little lot.
And guess what,
This device does not come with a 13 amp plug. This device must not be connected to a domestic supply via a 13 amp plug. This device needs a 30amp dedicated spur. If in doubt consult an electrician.

i bought the welder last time they had them in, although i think it is 140amp not the 160 they are currently selling.
had mine a few years now and its had plenty of use, stuff dropped on it, etc. and i cant fault it. was using it for a few hours yesterday afternoon infact.
brilliant bit of kit for the money, not much good for car bodywork but for heavier stuff its great, i modified my security post for behind the cossie on the drive yesterday. last week i repaired a spade lol.
oh, and mine had a 13amp plug on the end, 30 amp dedicated spur? bollocks if you ask me!
my clarke mig pro 180 should have a 16a supply and plug, but i just chopped it off and put a 13a on, probably not the best solution in the world but its been fine for over 12 months so far, and how often do you run the welder flat out?

i bought a gassles mig welder from aldi about 4 years ago and has never missed a beat
i also buy my mountain biking clothes from them, they are cheap and good quality
shows how much money some of the other shops are making

I got a 25L wolf air compressor from Aldi's a few years back just for blowing out the hoover filters as peed of trapsing round me dads all the time to use workshop one, must say it's ace, very quiet compared with my 25L SIP, SIP now about 15-17 years old, never once changed the oil always drain and it has never missed a beat, it was cheaper not to service it and just buy a new one if it lasted say 5 years so been lucky.
Aldi advertise these things but never these days seem to have them/stuff/offers in my local one, Thetford, Norfolk.

The worst that can happen is the 13amp fuse will blow.
Should be O.K for 1.5, I used to weld 1.0mm and less, stainless sheet with a 140amp stick machine.
