Are you making a stand alone loom or just replacing the wire for the standard ?

3mm thin wall will cope with 33amp.
4mm thin wall will cope with 39amp

The best way would be to run a fresh cable from the battery to the pump via a relay in the boot which you could use the old pump loom to switch on and off, but be sure to use the same size cable for the negative as you do for the positive.

Best way involves also a new earth direct from the battery, a LOT more resistance builds up due to age/corrosion on the negative side.
