Default Just about to start painting

Right little problem I'm stuck with.

I've got my Sapphire Cosworth up on axle stands ready to start painting the floor and engine bay including the top of the front panel.

My question is how do I go about painting the rail (where the date stamp is) on the wing as I am only painting the engine bay and need to paint up to the wing.

Do I need primer? or just 'dust colour' over or what? I really don't want a line there.

The finish at the moment is a poor matt.

hes on about the inner wing rail where the inner and outer wing are spot welded together

theres a product called soft edge foam you can buy from any half deecent spray suppliers mate , its like a 5 mm foam tube

ask them when your there for instructions how to use it but you basically stick it to the top corner edge of your wing ,and it dosent leave a hard edge when you spray to it hence the name simply mask to the back of it

best pic I have unless I take another tomorrow.

Do I just paint and not put a clear coat on it or what?. The paint on the outer body is mint and it's not had paint before so don't want to touch it.

Not sure what you mean by a Foam tube Beefy?

just mask from the bend or tip of the mudguard, than a quick polish with a rubbing compound.

as said above mask the top edge of the wing i would tape about 2mm down from the corner then give it a light scotch brite using the fine grey colour scotch then pull the tape you put 2mm down off. clean said area remask slightly down from top corner with tape then put another bit of tape on top of that but over hang it into the engine bay do not stick it down as it is like putting a umbrella over it so you can not spray it direct but you will get a mist coat on it ,lightly spray that area with base & lacquer then peel over hanging tape off then give it a real light coat of fade out thinner (i mean light )as it is neat thinner ,if you do it to heavy it will run like fook .when it is dry if it needs it give it a very light polish ,you should have a near invisible repair .hthgood luck .
