Default s2 rs turbo cut out and will not start

mk4 s2 rs turbo escort

can anyone give advise on following issue,

whilst driving car cut and and will not restart, have replaced coil, cap, and leads but still not starting, fuel pumps kicking in and engine turning over, i have checked spark and dont have it at king lead, when checking feeds to coil there only seems to be negatives and no positive?

im not very technical so any help would be much appreciated!!

The black wire at coil should have 12V + with ignition switched ON, the green wire is the ground and it's not uncommon on these to break so check this wire.

afternoon all

thanks to all that responded, it turns out the alarm box had gone faulty so it was not switching 12v to coil when ignition switched on, once alarm box replaced started first time

thanks again

Default s2 escort rs turbo cut out and now no spark

afternoon all,

i have just give it a run for first time since fixing it and it has done the same cut out and lost its spark, i have rechecked 12v feed and it is there but the coil was red hot(brand new coil), this is going to seem like a stupid question but the 12v feed goes to the black plug should this go onto the + or - connection on the coil? if they were the wrong way round would it start??? like i said before i am no most technical person so all help would be much appreciated

thanks for looking
