Hi guys,
I'm buying a fiesta that has a 2.0l Zetec in it. The car was a 1.0 litre fiesta and is still registered as one.
I am getting a quote of £220 fully comp for the 1.1 but i was wondering if you guys know of any cars that have had the conversion done but have registered it legally so i can use the registration number for a quote on moneysupermarket.com
thanks

Doesn't quite work like that!
Adrian Flux/Greenlight say that they base the premium on the type of car the engine came from, so find out what's the lowest insurance group out of Mondeos, Fiesta Si 2.0, Escort (did they do the 2.0 in the escort) and Focus and tell them it's from one of those!

just insured my 3dr with HIC, they just wanted to know what the engine was out of make and model etc. says on the insurance next to engine mods 2.0l mondeo
mine is very modifed with roll cage etc and cost £580 FC

Just get onto the phone to a specialist that insures modified cars, don't mislead at all, won't be as bad as you think, most insurers want std cars so needs to be a dedicated mod insurer for best value, although adrian flux REFUSED to quote me due to my disability, is that even legal!!

adrian flux gave me a great quote then when i rang up when i had the deposit ect said they couldnt do it anymore ect WTF! but not to worry got it cheaper now anyways, but as said i thought you could just tell the dvla that youve put a diffrent engine in then it should show up as a 2.0 ?
Like all my other cars, you need to register with DVLA with the new capacity and inform insurance of the alterations. They will see it as a modification, but might be a little more understanding if it carries a lot of the original ancilliaries. Job done.
I'm with Adrian Flux, gave best quote last year but not so much this year. But I'm still going to stick with them because the policy is a work of art
