Default how do we fit mondy st24 brakes to an escort mk6?

as it says guys and gals,

how would i go about fitting a set of mondeo mk2 st24 callipers, discs and pads to my escort van?

what else is needed? different brakes lines perhaps?

does anything need drilling out like the st170 brake conversion?

thanks in advance

hmm, thats good to know really, ive read somewhere that they will fit so long as there stamped.

if they wont fit i can always sell them again, theyve got grooved discs and ebc pads.

check the disc size, ford did mix and match their mondeo brakes, some 2.0s had v6 brakes and vice versa. anyhow, std 2.0 have 260mm dia discs whilst v6s should have 278mm (maybe a smidge bigger but im sure thats about right) either way theyre both bigger than standard escort brakes (240mm) and should offer an improvement.

Something to note that not alot of people do. mondeos, escort turbos, cosworths etc have larger bore pistons on the calipers which when fitted to standard escorts causes longer pedal travel (I first noticed this when putting cossy brakes on a 1.1 fez, it was shocking!!!). to compensate this you will require a larger master cylinder, any mondeo one should be fine as they all run the same caliper bore.

If you want bigger brakes still, calipers from a st170 focus or mk3 mondeo with discs from st170 are good, 300mm!! (mondeo calipers are easier and cheaper to get hold of)

thats some top advice there matey, many thanks.

the disc diameter is the 280mm with the correct "887 & 888" calipers.

the pedal travel is a bit excessive any way on my van as the fluid will need changing (which will be done), soonce it is hopefullt ill have better braking.

ive had a trial fit on some spare hubs ad the only thing i can see i need to do is drill the mounting holes out 12mm and i need souch shorter banjo bolts.

oh, sorry your right on the drilling hubs to accept m12 bolts and the banjos. forgot that bit. lol. you may need to space the calipers out slightly with a couple of washers to clear the disc too possibly.
