Question 1.8 focus zetec

Hi ust got a 2000 focus zetec 1.8 and the there seems to be no spring tension when using first and second i.e. the lever does not centralize,,5 and reverse return the lever when in neutral,is there a spring that breaks,causing this,cheers

Its sounds like the spring that attaches to the gear lever is broken. Mine did the same but never bothered me so I left it. A cheap replacement from Ford that you can do yourself from memory.
