Default mondeo 2001 zetec issue *update*

gents,

2001 plate mondeo, 1.8 petrol zetec (newer shape) developed a problem with jumping when driving, bit like kangarooing through the rev range, but does not do it all the time?

cant use a mates scanner until next week, so any common problems?

i was thinking maybe throttle position sensor or coil problem?

any ideas?

Coil pack mate, common problem on the petrol engine's.

Probably worth sticking in a set of plugs at the same time but fault is almost guaranteed to be the coil pack.

Just follow pipes from exhaust to inlet, you'll soon see it, I take it off, as well as the pulse air, gives so much more room around the engine, make sure if removing to keep the EGPDS connected to start with as some default to limp mode if this is removed,
EGPDS exhaust gas pressure differential sensor.

Have a look aswell on the inlet manifold, under the rubber pipe between throttle body and airbox, there's a small yellow ball valve with a black clip thing over it that actuates the flaps in the inlet manifold. These always pop off and will make it run a bit funny! Bit of a bugger to find as its quite small but it is there!

cheers for the advise gents

bit of a story today! going up my friends garage to do a few bits and bobs and it breaks down round the corner from his yard completely seperate problem......basically the fuel pump was buggered, thankfully got another at the local motor factors (£135 lighter)

still have jumping problem, i think its more of a plug/ lead/ coil problem!

bloody cars, i only want to sell the thing, but i'd never sell on a pig so i'll sort it
