Default Time for abit more power

Hi everyone,

I currently have a 1.6 focus that i love to bits but is now starting to feel abit underpowered. My plan was to get a 2.0 focus engine and start to modify it (cams, cranks that sort of stuff) as a side project too put into mine in the near future. I wanted to no what advice any of you would have on what to do to it, i'm after about 200bhp mark. Any help appreciated

Thanks in advance

Think for 200bhp, u wud need turbocharge, supercharge or ITBs on a 2.0

They arent bad, iv got a 1.8 with exhaust/induction/cams and only got 135bhp, u wud prob get 150 with these mods on a 2.0. But unless u can get hold of them 2nd hand, it can get expensive. I was thinkin of puttin 2.0 in mine then gettin it custom mapped. But again u got think of ur ins company. My insurance is with adrian flux and my car fully insured is on Ł440ish a yr. (22 with 2 ncbs)

200bhp is a walk in the park for a 2L zetec, black or silver, will do this easy with correct cams and tb's, the big picture you need to think about is costs, with ecu/mapping/parts it might be cheaper to just wait a few years and get a ST170 ?

I spent too many years pissing about with small engined underpowered cars trying to make them go quicker. The best advice I can give you is save your money and buy something that is quicker straight out of the box!

Focus 1.6 engines are an absolute waste of fucking time playing with trying to get more power out of them. Really you want a 2.0 litre as a base to start from (or an ST170 and just be done with it).

Fitting a 2.0 litre engine into your 1.6 shell will be a fucking nightmare...........so............time to get the classifieds out fella and ring your bank manager.

The 2ltr also uses a different gearbox, and as far as I'm aware, you can't just use the Ib5 that's in already, unless you put the smaller flywheel on from the 1.8, plus other issues, probably.
Starting with an 2ltr at least, sound's like a better option. as others have said. I wish I could have got a 2ltr, but I couldn't get a 1.4 for the price I got my 1.8 for.
Then again, you could still get the 2ltr engine and rebuild it to put in your next focus.

Im doing the 2.0 swap at the moment to my 1.6...

The parts list is epically long.... So i would advise going out and buying a 2.0 Unless you want a challenge...
