Default need some advice

hi fellas right ill start things off with i have a nice saph cosworth replica in white iv changed the engine before from a 1.6 pinto to a 2 liter dohc 8 valve and iv had it in there for about a year now and im a little bored of the power it seems to be getting less powerful i have a little bit of money in savings but i want to buy something i can drive everyday and not need to race everything like stupid little fiestas, corsas, saxooos and crap like that to easy and pointless was just thinking what engine would be best for me to fit in my car iv always wanted a cosworth but carnt find one for 1500 quid lol even a smashed one iv looked at a 24 valve convertion but then seems to big for the car what would your options be im only 21 so carnt really have a proper modded yb or something like that
would it be worth getting bit by bit cosworth stuff
staying as i am
24valve v6
trying something different ????
cheers johnandhissaffy

24v's are really good engine swaps for saffs, i've been in a few that have been converted and helped out with fitting them. Do your research and you'll have one in there in no time. You can use most of the bits from a granny and then just get someone to make up a loom, there's loads of people on the sierra owners club that will make a loom and fit it for Ł150.

Why not buy a fooked cossie engine cheap, strip it and build it up slowly as you can afford it, sticking some trick bits on it as you go. Then in a couple of years time you'll be able to afford to insure it and stick it in.

Depends what you class as quick, but it wont be a slow car by no means, well worth the cost if thats what you worried about. Plenty of power to drift in the dry . You can use a bug-eye but it will be hassle, you need to get a granada 24v ideally it will make your life so much easier as you can swap so much more over, i.e power steering if you havn't got it already? No need to worry about starter motors they dont break, its the gearboxs that let go if you abuse them. But again you can get people to make you one up for little money.

Like people are saying you could wack a yb in but you may as well wait and buy the real thing, a 24v will be a much easier conversion because you'll have another car to rob all the bits from.

Grannys are getting expensive nowadays because of these conversions but you should easly get one for 500-1000, remember though that you can rob so much from them so you will get your moneys worth. I think fitting a t5 box is pretty hard because you need a v6 bell housing and v6 spigot shaft. Most people use type 9 v6 boxs then when they break have mt75 internals put in. www.poweredbyford.org and http://forum.fordsierraclub.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=82

Read that thread, you'll get a good idea on what to do.

you really cant go wrong witha 24v. as long as you do it on the cheap yourself and you dont go aimaing to tune the thing you'll be happy.

200bhp out of the box, and drive pretty nice too.

just remember, as soon as you start spending money on them it becomes a waste they dont respond well to cheap tuning, also if you pay to have it fitted professionally youre already into "should have sold the car and bought a better one" money

Thats sound advice!

Just remember though nice saff cossies can be had for 5k so just bear in mind how much your spending.
