Default ResultsGilmour - Foam Master II Snow Foam Gun

I am thinking of getting one of these, but my pressure washer is not the correct fitting for it, and then one I really want also is not the correct fitment!

Can some sone post some pictures of the hose pipe version and what sort of foam this produces and if it is worth getting, so I can compare to the pressure washer version.

I want to use as a pre wash to loosen up the dirt before I start washing.

thanks,
Gav

thanks for the info, sorry for delay in replying to my own post!

RSMAT, I did wonder if it was worth it.

My problem is my current p/washer is a B&Q make, I have looked at the fittings and it is close to a Bosch one but not the same. Also it will need replacing soon as its leaking internally, the one I would really like is a Bosch Clic 125 but I do not think the snow foam lance will fit this anyway! Thats why I thought of a normal hose pipe version.

Is there a cheap (Ł30) p/washer that any one can recommend that has the correct fittings for the Gilmour foam lance?

personally if you have the pressure washer already just go for a proper lance as said PB do all different types of fitments . I have the above lance that the hose attaches too and its not great to be honest , has good adjustment on it and maybe my hose is too long with not a massive amount of tap pressure but seeing how a proper lance works the gilmour has no chance imo compared to a decent snow foam lance , on my system it comes out very liquidy and too slow for me

hth

Mike

ps as for cheap p. washers i,m gonna get the nilfisk c110 around Ł50 at halfords although it may only be a 'buy online jobbie' free delivery iirc has a very good mentioning on my DW detailing forum

^^ as for fitments to use a lance , either nilfisk or PB should be able to supply these , also some people have recomended to buy the longer hose for the nilfisk as it only comes to about 5m -7m iirc. the extension takes it to about 13 m so you can leave the machine in situ only problem is its about the same money again for the hose , from what i,ve read the c110 is a pukka little machine with good power and proper pumps instead of cheap shit that is out there

nah think youve got it wrong there rich...take a closer look after its dwelled at the dust.muck.ect..that it lifts off the paint work...it also stops swirls that you would create with bucket and sponge.

Well thats just my opinion. Its no better really than a good pre rinse before you wash it. Give it a good wash with 2 buckets and a good quality wash mitt and that should stop swirl marks anyway. I do still use mine when I wash the car, but if I were spendin the money again, for what it cost I would rather spend the money on other products!

the difference between tho is the foam is designed to lift the grime off as opposed to rinsing which in turn drags and pushes the grime across the paint work...works for some i guess and not for others..i respect your imput rich thanks mate.

just going back to the snow foam gilmour gun, i said it wasn,t great with my setup , the other day i had to do a friends car very quickly so i brought the gilmour down with me as i know his pressure is huge at the workshop. Bugger me it performed brilliantly tbh, foamed and dwelled beautifuly .
I,m still gonna buy a lance though as my pressure at home is only average at best

mike

P.s i just purchased the c110 nilfisk , well impressed for Ł60 delivered

I think I am going to get a gilmour foam gun and a pressure washer to with it.

I think it its a good idea to try and lift dirt/dust off the paint work before you give a good wash, this is why I want to use it as a pre-wash.

I still Have not seen any pictures from a gilmour using a tap though has any one got one?

The gilmour gun has been made to fit a hose only (hozelock fitting)

if your buying a pw then my advise would be to buy a snow lance to fit the pw , you,ll need the correct fitting depending on make of machine. Sorry i have no pics to post up at the moment , in my experience (not much) so far , you,ll be better off with a lance for realibale snow that isnt thin and watery like the gilmour off my tap pressure.

My tap pressure at a guess is average. My pals workshop pressure is very high , not often you,ll come across this imo . I,m getting a lance for my nilfisk very soon

I think snow foaming makes pure sense to me

mike

edit- i also had trouble completely rinsing the foam off without a pw even though it was watery etc from the gilmour

sorry still looking in to this!

I thought Gilmour was available as a hoze lock fitting and a version for pw, but I could have been looking at other makes like this one, http://www.i4detailing.co.uk/acatalo..._Lance_1L.html

I now have a lance for a Nu Tools pw, is this the same as another make?

I have a Gilmour II and think its ok. I have good tap pressure and it does foam reasonably well but after a few seconds the foam has disappeared therefore there is no dwell. I too looked at connecting to the PW but cant find a hozelock to PW fitment.

In my opinion, save your Ł50 and go for a Snowfoam bottle for the PW. Gilmour is ok if you dont have a PW but if you have a PW then save yourself the time.

also when I got the Nu Tool hose & Lance it came with a detergent bottle,

is this going to be better than the tap version of the Gilmour, but not as good as a proper snow foam lance?

like these?
