i have a cosworth that i recently brought & it has 300bhp with graphs to prove & it goes like 300bhp
the thing is it didnt have a boost gauge in it so i rigged up a old 1 to check the boost & its boosting about 22psi on a t34 which is ok but it has standard yellow injectors.
are these ok at this boost etc..??? as all my others have had greens fitted at this psi
i removed ecu & inspected chip & its a superchips chip in it but dont know the spec of it.
carts spec is
chip ecu
3 bar map (i think)
samcos
k&n conefiler
t34
22psi
should be a healthy 300 horses
but am wanting more so was thinking if the chips ok for greens then fitting:
greens
full s/s exhaust
4x4 or rs500 cooler
should see about 330+ then???
of if i have 2 get a new chip then go for:
new chip???
greys
s/s exhaust & rs500 intercooler
chould see 360+????????

So you're on Standard 2wd cooler too??
If i were you and you want more like you've said,
Go 500 Cooler/Greys/Siemens and stick with your T34 and you should see 350+
What housing is it?? have you also had your pump re-wired too??

i really could do with knowing what map the chip is b4 i do anything
ide be happy with exhaust, cooler & greens if the chips ok, but as i said b4 if i have to change chip i will go for greys
yes its std cooler fitted & bog standard exhaust!
hers a pic of bay

I had a chip before that also runs that kind of psi with blue injectors, but with raised fuel pressure.
But if you dont really know what chip is fitted, go and get a new one with the right injectors to be safe!

I think someone has upped the fuel pressure, although there can be a wide variation in injector flow from seemingly same injectors, esp if they are very old, they will flow more than newly cleaned ones.
Don't know about your figures but it must be incredibly ineffecient to get 300bhp at 22psi, I manage this at 17.5 psi on a T34.48, but then that's what you get with chips, a compromise, over my last chip I dropped 9psi lost 30 ftlb but gained 22bhp and prfect running on idle with greys at 0.97%, 137ppm with 200,000 miles on the engine, now stripped, currently awaiting freezing(money permitting) then rebuild.

personally i'd bin the chip and get one for your spec, set of greens and a 500 cooler (or 4x4 cooler) will see 350h
Motosport developments i'd recommend for a chip, should be off the shelf too
PLEASE REWIRE THE FUEL PUMP! essential!

dont dip one toe at a time in ,check what spec or get somone to check the spec of your car then forget what they say and go the whole hog,, no matter what the experts say ,,, my advice is run it on greys fit it with a t4 the rs500 cooler is a must ,and then when it needs rebuilding make sure its built to last ,get it mapped and set up proper and look after it
if i was you mate turn the boost down to save to motor and save some ££££ get and fit a RS500 cooler you see them on here and ebay for about £150 then get a set of 55.Siemens about £220/£240 then book it in and have it maped on a set of rollers about £350 and your car will last . the thing with getting a chip off the shelf its not 100% set for your car it will still need the EFR setting up . wot ever you do dont by second injectors
The point of rewiring the fuel pump is down to 20+ year old degraded wiring, even if you measured say 12v at idle at the pump once underway when the pump needs current(amps) this could drop seriously low some as low as 6 or 7 volts, result is not enough fuel and a possibly melted piston or two, also rewire the disaster of a fan circuit whilst at it, both easy to do, pump takes about 2 hrs, easy job cost around £10 or less in materials, same with fan rewire, the original set up melts the fuse for the fan and can occasionally cause fires!!

yes the fan wireing is ok on mione but the past 2 i have had problems with.
ok my mates good with auto electronins so ill get him 2 test fuel pump wireing
think im gonna run it as it is as only home 2 weeks then im offshore for a month & buy a set of greys, 500 cooler & an exhaust & get it mapped when i get back. is quick as it is but i want more............

Mine was running 297bhp @ wheels (graph to prove) and is only runnning on yellows. Fuel economy is horrific though - around 7mpg when I put the pedal down! All advice above is good, and I would definitely go get it live mapped when you have done your upgrades. Live mapping is better for the reason the map is specific to your car and it is done when the vehicle is under load out on the road. So far as I'm aware?
297@wheels maybe his dyno was just giving out the numbers people expect, was it a DD by any chance ?.
I've personally seen dark greens(803) at 80% duty by 310bhp(crank).
When I had a chip done and set up by the person who did the last chip I was getting around 240 a tank taking it very easy, had good torque but used to foul plugs when in town, I don't usually go over 1500rpm for hour upon hour.
I tested the chip on my local RR and it was 10.3 AFR on a steady state 30mph in 3rd gear, just went off the scale rich when booted.
Best thing I ever did was ditch the L6 and the strangle hold it had as I had to use certain people parts etc for any upgrades.
I got a new ecu, mapped to absoloute perfection starts idles perfect hot or cold, can't feel it idling at all, runs down to 900rpm in top gear and pulls no snatch, and I can do 400 to a tank without trying really hard, just like normal everyday traffic speed driving.
AFR's I have no idea about and not bothered, the off boost power is untrue, boost from 1400rpm, full boost by 2500rpm.
Freedom from the L6 cost me about £1k all in, inc mapping costs, best thing I ever did, but if not wanting to do this, get it LIVE mapped, well worth the money.
