little bit of play in rear diff????

Default little bit of play in rear diff????

hi peeps,i have fitted a quaife atb in my 2wd an there is a little bit of play on the actual bearing bits,,,i have tighten the 2 funny lugs(not sure what there called)as far as i could

the diff is still out the car an when u turn the crown wheel is a little bit of a clunk......i would off checked on my old one but it was torn to pieces.....

sounds like you (or whoever put the diff' together) have not set the backlash correctly. I have just swapped my old diff' for a Quaife also, mine was already built up however so it was just a case of swapping the units. There was no play, or clunking when spinning the input shaft (CWP) tho.

There should be no side too side movement of the diff in the caseing when the bearing adjusters are done up!. Also the back lash between the pinion and the crown wheel should be about 0.08mm to 0.15mm

you get a small amount of backlash as mentioned above which when filled with correct oil should dissapear.
