Fuel pump wiring
Hi all, i recently ran over a small deer which hit the fuel pump and caused it to stop priming. I had a mechanic look at it and he reckons that he cant replace the wire he thinks it is because the wiring loom has been changed and apparantly the wire changes colour half way down the car? The car used to be an xr3i but was converted to an rs turbo by the previous owner. Is there a way i can put the fuel pump on a switch and just turn it on manually? If so how do i go about this? Any help will be greatly appreciated, cheers
hmm sounds abit dodgy. The fuel pump prime is down to the pink relay which have a habit of burning out. Not that fuel prime is that important, just takes a bit more to start on a cold morning.
Surely it would be a simple case of replacing the fuel pump if its damaged.

i'd just rewire the fuel pump anyway. your be suprised in how much voltage they loose over the years. done mine bout a month back took bout 3 hours start to finish and that was including breaks.
Thanks for you replies, the fuel pump is still working as the mechanic tested it on the battery? Apparantly its pulled one of the wires out which he cant trace to the relays. Im thinking of running a wire from the battery to a switch on the dash then connecting that to the fuel pump? Please let me know if any of you would do it differently? cheers,
