Default 4x4 problems

My car developed a mental brake judder a while back, i've since discovered that it was a fucked o/s inner cv. Changed the shaft and got it all back together and went for a drive, everything seemed fine apart from still having a very slight vibration under braking. After 10 miles or so the judder is back so i check the cv joint and its pulled the rubber off already.

Basically i'm planning on uprating the engine mounts but is there anything else i should be looking at that could be causing me this issue?

I'm stumped now and its really bugging me. So much so that it's joining the queue behind kosman and rog's cars to be broken

Cheers

since i fitted uprated engine mounts, dont think ive burst any cv boots, seemed to replace them atleast twice a year and i thought my engine mounts were good,id be tempted to try uprated engine mounts, watch not get poly ones as they seem to hard and loads of noise and vibration with them,as i found out and changed them the next day,

I thought my mount were good too. What mounts are you running Colin?

Noise and vibration doesn't really bother me as the car is pretty harsh anyway

i used vibra technics craig, sure thats what they were called,
the poly ones were unbareable(sp),actually sounded like something was wrong, unbelievable noise and vibration, noticable even standing outside car on idle!
but cant remember who made the poly ones, they were cheap

i had the exact same probs.

(bit of an essay this lol)
i have just fitted collins engine mounts and everything is spot on. lift your engine at the sump and the engine should lift the car if not then your buggered. mine were totally gone they were in 2 parts lol. the right hand side was not too bad to change getting the mount leg out the engine block (thanks richie) but when you want to get the left hand side one out i had to undo the oil filter bolt going into the side of the block (be prepared to loose a little bit of oil on the drive) and the nut just in front of the filter itself to get my socket set into the nuts on the left hand engine mount leg going into the block. sorry if i went on there but thought id tell you if your going to change your mounts. when i dab on the throttle the cars body twists with the engine. i got through 2 shafts and 6 cv joints before i changed to new mounts.

hope this helps mate

I've got Vibratechnics ones on mine and have no complaints whatsoever!

They're not that bad to either really.

you can get the old mount out by cutting it with the engine raised as it were. but i could not for the life of me get the new mount in. i couldnt get the engine any higher as the gearbox was touching the transmission tunnel.
Just take out the bolt on the oil filter arm that is on the top near the oil filter itself,
Then with adjustable spanner big enough undo the bolt that holds the oil filter arm that goes into the engine block. Y
ou should then be able to lift it up enough to get a small socket set to the bolts that hold the mount leg to the engine block. LEAVE the last bolt (one of the top ones) in loose on the engine mount leg, as this will save you having to fart arse around later trying to line up the engine mount leg to the engine block.
Sorry if this sounds a lot but i'm not one for cutting long storie's short lol.

not the oil filter itself just the filter arm to the block. yes it will make easier access. you might need to have some wd 40 handy too for the bolt on the filter arm as i bet it has not been undune for ages.
