i had the exact same probs.

(bit of an essay this lol)
i have just fitted collins engine mounts and everything is spot on. lift your engine at the sump and the engine should lift the car if not then your buggered. mine were totally gone they were in 2 parts lol. the right hand side was not too bad to change getting the mount leg out the engine block (thanks richie) but when you want to get the left hand side one out i had to undo the oil filter bolt going into the side of the block (be prepared to loose a little bit of oil on the drive) and the nut just in front of the filter itself to get my socket set into the nuts on the left hand engine mount leg going into the block. sorry if i went on there but thought id tell you if your going to change your mounts. when i dab on the throttle the cars body twists with the engine. i got through 2 shafts and 6 cv joints before i changed to new mounts.
