Default Seriously considering Zetec Turbo conversion

As per title looking at doing this over the next year or so.

I know the basics as in what engine etc and what needs to go in it, but i need to know everything else i need. For example Gearbox, drive shafts, fuel pressure reg/pump, custom exhaust etc...

If anyone had done this can they come up with a lift of everything i need (apart from bottom end/head)

What power are you after? that really dictates gearbox/fuel pump/injector choice....

As for exhausts, there are 'custom'/off the shelf manifolds available, don't see why the mk1 rs foci manifold wouldn't fit or you can use your rs turbo manifold and re drill/tap the zetec head. The latter should leave your exhaust free to bolt up as normal (roughly??)

I personally would be happy with whatever ford pressure reg is on the fuel rail the zetec lump comes with, most things that use Bosch injectors are 3bar any who. You will need to use your rst cross over pipe, more seem to use backwards fiesta rst crossover.

You need to modify the engine mount as per zvh i believe and use a 1.8zetec sump... then you need to sort out an oil return for the turbo.

Injectors are really chosen by what power you expect/want.... Your turbo for instance (If its a proper stage 3) should be good for 270-300 brake,

Obviously you need some kind of management, i (again personal choice) would go megasquirt but if your not keen on diy set-ups then omex/gotech/pectel t2/cosworth etcetc are all good candidates.

Again this is mostly opinion, i would choose to go mtx75 (or find a focus rs box) whilst the engine is out etc if you are after much more than 220brake as the zetec WILL have a lot more lo end torque.

Im not the best person to give advice on this, as i haven't done it...... but loads have on here.

Good luck!

Rob,

onlt thing id say different is use an uprated ib5 box like the cts stage 2+ to keep down the costs of custom drive shafts etc

i mate of mine is doing it and using mainly focus rs sruff (inlet side) erst exhaust
and is going for FRS box conversion next

for the cost of the cts+ box you could get an mtx in including the shafts so whatever power your after an mtx should be on your shopping list and don't use a rod linkage one get a cable shift, you'll want a black top engine as head is slightly better, get a set of pistons/rods of jano a set of ian howells springs for the head have it allput together right with either a t3 stage 3 or t34 on some type of ex manifold depending on your budget and you can use 2 litre sump as they've got the right shape for ex to go through the rest is as rob above said, any other stuff just ask and will help if i can

defo go the mtx gearbox route from a focus or something as its much easier sorting a decent box for the zetec, and wont cost much more than a cts 2+ and last longer lol, obviously you will need an aftermarket ecu if you aint already

Ahhh good to know the 2l sump works, and the servo is a bloody good idea! think i will do the only honourable thing i can here........... and copy it if it works well

If your budget is tight there are a good few using the standard zetec bottom end with .5mm skimmed from pistons, (although this was a zvh and i don't know how different the combustion chamber volumes are between a zetec head and cvh).
