Default F**king potholes!!!

The weathers been absolutly blinding down here in Kent, so out came the RS for a blatting. But fuck me!!! I was swinging about all over the road trying to dodge the potholes, i mean some of them were huge and with the escort sporting 17's, low profiles, polybushes and lowered it don't take a lot to jar your spine!!! What are the roads like in your areas?

I'm fearing for the life of my rims. Looks like i've scuffed one already. Had to get the tracking done today as that was way out. I was even down the local tyre shop this morning and a bloke come in with a split BMW rim. Its beyond a joke round our way. Even if i hit a small one it feels as if the struts gonna come through the turret!!!! Got to make sure I don't hit a big one coz thats gonna cause havoc!!!!

The A20 from ashford to maidstones a fucking minefield. Its a real shame coz its a great road for having a blat on, but your constantly peering over the bonnet looking at the road for the next crater!!! I was really looking forward to taking the car out today but within about 5 minutes wanted to put it back in the garage!

The roads here in devon are full of potholes and the council keep on wasting money bodging the repairs and they spread even further after a few weeks

Went to south wales for a blat last month and all the roads I drove were spot on and you could really tell the difference once you got back into england.

Fucking awful in Northants. Road tax goes up, petrol tax goes up, road standards goes down. Makes you wonder what the tax raised from motorists gets spent on, it certainly aint to benefit the motorists.

It was worse a few weeks ago in Norwich/Norfolk, however recently it seems to have patched up a lot. Plus the council has received an extra Ł2 million fundings just for fixing potholes!

i'm traveling round quite alot atm and i have to admit some of the pot holes i'v come across have been absoloutly massive, i'v seen some coming onto 10-12" deep now that can't even be classed as a pot hole anymore it's just a hole, alot of the london back roads are unbelievably shite, and birmingham is just as badi have noticed they have been doing alot of work on the motorways at night but they are still shite some of the surfaces on the m40 and m1 are terrible

Crap.... in fact, after the frost, there weren't many roads in West Yorkshire that didn't show how badly they'd been layed in the first place....

Best thing to do is complain about them. I complained about one just going out of Leeds City Centre once and less than a week later they'd been and filled it! It wasn't a pothole as such either, it was like the road had just sunk and there used to be a time when I could fit the fez between the sunken bit and the kerb and all would be fine... then it got to the stage where I had to drive on the other side of the road as I approached it cos the noise the car made when I hit it wasn't nice......

There's another one starting to appear just down from it... when it gets as bad, I'll ring them again.... It's probably just Leeds sinking into a gigantic hole.... it will be no loss.

I think we should all send our local authorities an invoice for replacment of rims; tyres; lower arms / bushes, shocks, ball joints; track rods; and arb drop links - that might jolt them into action. As someone mentioned the other day, why not get all the 'jobseekers' out there with a shovel? It's not like the contractors ever do it properly anyway - it's not in their interest - do it badly and they get called back next year!

road tax doesnt pay for local road repairs, the local councils do it. and the highways agency does the motorways and main dual carriageways. road tax is more for income to top up the treasury.

i recently reported a road with severe pot-holes to cambridge county council and they fixed all of them (properly) within a few days.

also reported a huge trench dug in the a14 at ipswich (during road works) which fucked 2 of my tyres (dont know if wheels are damaged yet) and they rung me straight up and fixed the trench the next day.

and i reported a knackered jet garage forecourt to Jet head office, who replied saying they have placed the order to resurface it.

moral of the story is, report the probs and then there is more chance of them getting fixed.

some of the roads i've seen will need totally resurfacing and when they eventually start doing all the works, traffic delays are going to be pretty bad (and knowing the authorities they'll do them all at the same time to maximise disruption).
