right. how long after ur car insurance policy expires do u have to start another one and use the noclaims. ie i got a policy that runs out in april, say the 1st, of which i will hopefully of earned another years noclaims, but im getting rid of that car and im gona get a differnt one, hopefully within the month but not sure. obviously i want the xtra years noclaims but i was told it would expire if not used on a policy within a certain time. is this true? if so how long do i have be its inelligable

I really think it varies between insurance companies. You'd need to talk to the insurer you plan to take out the policy on the next car with, and see how they want to play it. That's probably your safest bet
In most instances the NCB is valid for two years after the expiry of the last policy, although subject to confirmation of driving under another policy in the interim, some companies will accept up to threee years old NCB.
If you are talking about a few months then you should have no problems with any private car insurers on the market.

Most important thing is when your current policy matures make sure you get in writing off the ins co how many years no claims you have earned.
As said above, most allow 2 years, some 3 years but it does vary.
