Question About ESP on Mk1 Focus TDCI Ghia?
Does the ESP system just work automatically on this car? After looking in the user manual I thought that the switch should be by the handbrake or gear lever. I just thought my car did not have it. Yet the other day when it was wet and I was going up a steep hill and started to scrabble a bit a warning light came on the dash that was orange and looked like a wheel spinning with water around it. This went off when traction was re-gained. Does this just work automatically or something and you can't switch it off or am I missing something? Sorry for the noob question I have only owned the car for a week.

Even with traction control should there not be a switch near the handbreak that has the same symbol on that you saw on your dash? There is on ly ST170, when you press it the dash light stay on to tell you that traction control is off
Thanks for the replies guys, I just thought ESP and traction control were the same. Just would of preferred it to have an off button as I feel it is maybe more to go wrong and I do not care about it having it to be honest. It seemed to do nothing when I had a slight wheelspin except a light come on on the dash.
