Default Escort MK6 1.8 Si Question

i've now got a Mk6 1.8 si again, this is my third in total, last one only lasted 6 days! but i had the 1st one about 2 years, my question is about the rear brakes and wheel bearings, on the first one i had real problems with the rear wheel bearings going all the time and its started again on this one i've got now, i want to know if there are any other ways, besides an RS2000 rear disc conversion that i can put rear discs on my escort, this may sound a bit weird but i believe if i have discs on the back it shouldn't go through wheel bearings quite as much? any help or any ideas on how i can solve this problem would be greatly appreiciated,

cheers

i ant see rear disks making any difference in the bearing failures, all i can think is that your over tightening them

is there and specific tightness that they should be tightened to? i'd never really thought of that but tbh i never really used to overtighten them in my opinion, then again i cudda been if you know what i mean, lol

its a simple problem wit the wheel breaings , the rear spindles wear out to the point where even if you putnew bearings there will still be play in them and they wear really fast , all you need to do is buy new rear spindles and all will be fine again,.

+2 from experience, the spindle shouldn't wear at the bearing as the inside of the bearing doesn't spin on the hub. I found the seal in the drum had worn a groove in the spindle letting water/dirt etc inside, damaging the bearing and I'd begin to hear the dreaded rumbling.
They are around £65 each from Ford.
