Default 2.1 16v Zetec turbo (now with compressor map)

Right thinking about using a GT turbo, iam after about 220-240bhp from the engine, with as little lag as possible, what do you guys think about this?

Garrett GT22 Turbo
Compressor Trim/Hsg: 60 Trim (0.51 A/R). Turbine Housing: 0.67 A/R (Wastegated).

Says it will suport 280bhp.

Thoughts please

Ross.

thats quite a big exhaust housing... although with the 2.0l engine and the fact that its a GT it should be fine.
if you were after minimal lag you might want to consider a .48 housing but this will run out of puff higher up the revs if it was me i would go for the one you have looked at..
How much are they out of intrest?

to support 280 max sounds a little bit wasted on a 2.1 zetec turbo

is it going to be easy and straight forward fitment? surely stage 3 t3 or something be equivalent, cheaper and more straightforward to fit??

just a thought. interested in costs and specs for the GT turbos on zetecs though

The smallest exhaust housing they do is .56 and that is not wastegated, meaning more headakes of an extenal wastegate.

Price wise under $800 delivered to your door, so about Ł400

Fitment should not be anymore of a problem than a T3 as iam using a Focus exhaust manifold so its having an adapter plate mate anyway

Price wise as above mate

The T3 ive got is standard and will probally need a rebuild anyway costing around Ł500, so thats why iam thinking about the GT, that price is outright to, so can sell the T3 to someone who wants one for exchange

My thoughts are that you should hurry the fuck up and get it finished, stopping only breifly to fit my rad when I get it and paint my car too

a stage 3 T3 will be shite compared to that GT.
Is it just the lag reason (and bling factor ) that you want a GT series turbo.. cos unless you have special plans for the engine you may be better going for a T34 easy as to fit and can still have fairly minimal lag. arround Ł250-300 from the states inc internal wastegate and 300Hp+ capabilities!

Yeh its mainy the LOL (lack-o-lag) i want. Fitting aint a problem as iam not using the RST manifold anyway.Iam never going to get near 300bhp as iam using standard Zetec rods.

Ross.

dont actually have a rad yet. the guy with the cossie, which is at LPS has sold his already Thanks for offering your services I shall take you up on the kind offer when I source a rad

RE the turbo.

You dont actually need to ask this question do you! you know damn well you want a GT turbo so all this talk of T series is a waste of time. All you need to know is which is the best GT series for minimum lag with say 300bhp limit or something.

Why dont you call the turbo company up. say you have a 2 litre engine, it will be on 98 Ron fuel, you want 250bhp, minimum lag, gt turbo what do they suggest. failing that, find a couple you like, get the compressor maps and ask Mike to see what he thinks.........

Rossco, what boost are you planning to run? And what is your planned RPM redline? That way you can WORK OUT which turbo will be best for your needs
