Default Allison gearboxes ?

anyone here work on them or know anyone who does ?

got a auto box in a fire engine with a problem that need fixing and dont want to pay what allison charge

We use HL Smith (01902 373011) when we have problems with gearboxes. They might be able to help out. I work the parts dept for a truck garage.

Allison g/boxes dont usually give problems,is it in a scania fire tender,can you give me the faults,and any fault codes you can get out of the display

^^^^ same if its in a volvo mate give get fault codes etc

its a 1987 dennis ire engine, gearbox is a mt643

goes up the gears fine but comming down it seems to go into 1st far too early approx 9mph all the others go into 1st when literally stopped approx 1mph

its too early for error codes etc

I've used JOHN LOVEGROVE of ATP Transmissions in Bristol before, never found a thing they couldn't do auto wise, did me a cracking modded ZF4hp22 with 24 components from a rangey converted to 2wd with 850 bmw tail end, pricey but took the abuse no problem, serious amount of mods to it as well as above.

yes spoke to a guy called john really helpful have me a list of things to check to eliminate first, he doesnt think its the box its something silly which controls it.

fingers crossed its a air leak or something sticking

i used tp work on alison gearboxes for buses at a place called queensbridge psv in wakefield forgot number. been a few year now but seems like governor is sticking may be wrong
