Had a cheap Escort Eclipse runaround that went walkies from a rough estate back home. Old bill called my house and my dad called me saying they have been on and my cars gone! Started to freak as it was secure at home, he said it was the Escort o just laughed, thank fuck!

They burnt it out in the street and i got raped for £185 for storage and removal of the burnt shell!!

had a rover 220 gti k plate, bought from new stolen, found a year later and bought it back, was better nick than when it got stolen,

also had a new o3 plate bmw 330 sport convertible stolen, lent it to a mate and he got held up at knife point, an asian guy from the erdington area joy rided in it for a few hours while he got chased by the police,

they finaly got the car but he was running away, police got him aswell but when he went to court, my so called mate was to scared to give evidence so he was let go.

sold the car not long after, was never the same

Had a Skyline GTR stolen off my drive about 11 years ago now. They towed it away as could not get it running about a mile from my house behind some garages. The police saw what was a very distinctive car back then where it normally was not parked and checked it out to find the lads that nicked it sitting inside trying to get it started!!

Got it back after it had £7K of damage repaired that they caused!!

What were the police like in terms of you self recovering your own car?? When ive known forces guys do similar the police really dont like it and threatened to arrest them for criminal damage as they broke down a industrial unit door to get car back.

Wouldnt surprise me these days theyd try and prosecute for perverting course of justice or whatever it is they charge you for interfering in a case.

Yes, in 1989 I got this back....

looking like this....

Stolen from Liversedge in West Yorkshire, it was taken to Bridlington by a man who lived in Hull to replace the mini that his girlfriend had crashed whilst her parents had been away on holiday. They were rubbing it down to spray it a slightly different shade of racing green and a dodgy tax disc was spotted by a traffic warden whilst they had it parked outside Halfords as they'd just nipped out for a bit more wet and dry (yes... they'd driven it to Halfords looking like that..... oh dear).

I gained a hammer out of the theft... and they'd fixed the high beem flash for me. So after we'd wrangled with the insurance company who eventually paid out for a new coat of paint, everyone was happy.

The ride over to Brid in the back of the Police van in thick fog to identify the car and bring it back to Batley nick was an experience I never want to repeat though.

Police were really cool, as they turned up as we were roling it out of the lock up. They just asked for my I.D and asked how I knew where it was. I said an anonoymous phonecall.

We then showed them how the door was already broken/open and as we did it collapsed properly and fell on the floor We looked at the copper who just said 'oh well'.

In 1981 my Mk 2 Escort was stolen during the night. Reported it the following morning after realising that I hadn't left it anywhere else, and the cops promised to put an all-cars alert on it.

Two weeks later, it was recovered by my girlfriend's dad (his Cortina key fitted my Escort). The thieves had dumped it on a building site a couple of miles away after ripping the shit Harry Moss stereo out. If they had opened the boot, all the new gear was in there waiting to be fitted!

The best bit, though, is that my car had been in full view of EVERY police car going in or out of the then-new Divisional police HQ in Livingston.

Returned home to my parents house afew years ago to find my ERST with both door locks hanging out.Just my luck really because i had left the battery disconnected day before, hence alarm not working cos i had removed starter motor to have recon.Heard later on of a kid mouthing off bout trying to take a mercury grey turbo with polished 5 spokes.Knew it had to be my car.I was at school with this joker and knew who he was as he was my younger brothers age.I later sold ERST and bought rs1800.Was out drivg one night when i spotted the low life hanging about outside leisure centre with a load of other street rats.I parked the fiesta and approached the group,as i did he even had the cheek to say Thats mint that is mate hav nt seen that around.I seen red straight away and Knocked the little prick clean out and then spat on his face.Rest of the lads just stood frozen to the spot.As i drove away i knew i did nt make up for cost of having car de locked but it cert made me feel better.

My dad had his first car stolen from a pub car park.It was a mint mk1 mini cooper, white with black roof. Was found on top of a mountain. When he turned up to see it someone was trying to remove subframe which apart from seatbelts was the only thing left of it.He was devastated. Will to dig out pics and post

I have not had a car nicked my self yet touch wood, but back in 2005 my aunty had a mint 1991 cavalier 1.8, with 24k on the clock from new, nought it for £500 off an old guy who had never driven it over 60 mph. got it back to hers, parked it on the drive and put her fiesta across the top of the drive, she woke up the following morning to find the thieving cunts had broke into the fiesta to move it forwards to get the cavalier out, she had not had chance to even insure it as we got it back to hers at like 8 at night, we called the police and just decided she was gonna cut her losses straight away,4 days later a guy pulled up at the taxi office i worked in to try and sell some knocked off junk to the taxi drivers, when i walked out side there was my auntys cavalier with the thieves girlfriend in the passenger seat two kids in child seats in the back so i quizzed him straight away to where he got the car his reply was "i swiped it off some dopey tarts drive" then he laughed, I seen red andf dropped hime there and then, one of the taxi drivers knew about my auntys car being nicked and realised what was happening, he had a mazda mini bus so promptly moved it right up against the cavaliers bumper so it was boxed in, then got the police up (surprisingly theyu were there in less than two minutes) when the police got the thieves family etc out of the car we discovered he had wired in a new cd player fitted his own subwoofers in the boot also had a boot load of shopping and had even replaced a damaged tyre at kwik fit and left the reciept in the car. fucking cheeky bastard must have thought he would just get away with keeping it lol. my aunty came and collected the car, i grabbed another steering colum from the scrappy put it all back together, she got insured for an agreed £900 some how two days later it got petrol bombed on the drive, she got the full £900 payout so was happy enough. I seen the thief a few weeks later so me a nd a mate geve him a bloody good pasting and actually sburned his chin slightly with a lighter to show him how painful flames are and what could have happened to my scousins and aunty etc if the fire brigade never pput the fire out so quick on her car. anyway the cheeky bastard had the cheek to go to the police and had us arrested for assault etc but luckily the police were quite understanding with the facts of why we did what we did to him and released us without charge. fucking dirty crack heads think they can take what they like

Got done over outside my house for my old Tigra (folding roof one.... no i'm not gay OR a hairdresser) - was found 6 days later on a street where anything newer than a P reg Rover was either nicked or belonged to a drug dealer (or both) - got it back and had it repaired on insurance - hated it after that so px'd against an Astra sport hatch instead!
Not a nice experience!

A friend had his mazda 323 gtr stolen from a petrol garage (he left it running while he went to the night pay window and someone jumped init and drove off) reported to the police and of course they had nothing to go on, a bit off investigation by my friend led to a couple of names and address's off the potential thief's. we hunted around the area and he saw one of the boys in his car blocked him in and said something along the lines off 'listen mate, i just want my car back, im not threatning you but i know where you live, i knwo what car you drive, and i know what you mother looks like, its in your best interest to get the car back to me' and left him a number to call, later on we also saw the other boy and gave him the same message (on his doorstep)

about half hour later he had a phone call to meet someone about the car, so we went and met the guy (it was niether off the guys he had spoken to but the cousin off the lad who took it, apparently) and the car was locked in a garage and was untouched. A friend off ours wanted to give the lads a leason, but the guy whos car it was, was so happy about getting it back he couldnt have kicked off even if he wanted to!

My Nova van 1500 diesel workhorse got nicked and by the time the recovery company had added their £200 collection fee plus £20 a day storage fee it wasn't worth taking back...

It ended up being a £300 bill for a van I paid £200 for and the useless cunt had crashed it so it needed a new bottom arm, shocker, wing and wheel...how he crashed it is a mystery as it only had about 30 bhp and did 0-60 eventually and if the wind was behind you
