Default ? about cooling oil before it enters a turbo using an oil pre rad

is there any reason y you cant put a small oil cooler pre turbo?
so that it cools the oil just before it enters the turbo?
just a small rad.

also would there be any benefit?
i know oil getting too hot can kill turbos, but thats in the extreme cases, so would there be any advantage to running a small cooler? just to kep the turbo temps down.

You won't cool the oil enough to lower the temps of the turbo in a meaningfull way.

Your oil shouldnt be hotter than about 130-140 degrees C anyway... If its hotter than this you need an oil cooler

Its not so much the oil being to hot thats a problem - its the oil carbonising in the turbo thats the issue, hence water cooled turbos.

Fair enough, was just something I've been wondering and as I've got a spare oil cooler I could have used it.
I might use it to cool the water instead.
I don't think my oil goes much over 100-110 so it's not hot in general but was just a thought.
It's got the STD modine that seems up to the job at the mo.

i dont know if this makes a difference but i plan on getting my exhaust manifold, turbo exhaust housing and downpipe all ceramic coated, and heat wrapped, so there will be a lot of heat in the turbo that wouldnt normally be there so will get hotter than normal,
and therefore the heat in the oil in and out of the turbo will be more than what it normally is.

i need to do theis to reduce the ambient temps around the engine
