Default st220 into xr4???

can anyone help, had a bad experience with a 24v cos that was built for my xr4i, turned out to be a complete bag of crap!!
that will teach me to go to an engine builder!
anyway, i was wondering if the st220 engine can be made to fit a RWD car, if not i will just put a v8 in and be done with it, althought it might be nice to have something a bit more nimble, got a v8 sierra xr8 already!
cheers, paul

Dunno, especially as there are so many versions of V Duratec across the family, but in the back of my mind are some British low volume, performance cars......Ginetta, Noble. Could easily be mistaken....

Why?

The heritage of the Duratec V engine is purely Ford (America) as a modular engine in the early 90's. There are SOHC, VVT, V8, IMRC, etc versions. I don't know what it is, but I'd expect it to be a conventional Ford V4/6 pattern.

It has no linkage, apart from the name, to the Mazda Duratec HE I4, let alone the Probe V6 engine.

Why is it Ford started/loves to confuse the consumer engine names (a little at first) and then going mad with trim levels as well. I know someone who insisted he could easily drop his Focus turbo engine into his MK3 Mondeo because it was a 'Zetec'.!

this was something i started ages ago and it ended up not getting finished. The ford duratec v6 like st200/220 will bolt to a mt75 gearbox from a scorpio so yes it is possible.
