Default ecos broke down today, any suggestions

nice day so went out for drive in the car, was running fine then just cut out whikle doing around 30,, pulled over, had look under bonnet no sensor clips off ect, the car has 2 alarms and at first just thought it was an imobeliser fault but its deff not!

got it home on my mates flatbed,

so ill have a better look tomorow,

while cranking the car over with accelerator pedal pedal fully down it does want to go and kind of idles around 700rpm while blowing out black smoke,,,

so im going to order new sensor kit from matt lewis tomos and swapping the map sensor with my mates car also,,

any suggestions to help me find out the problem quicker,,

have u checked to c if its getting fuel and spark, first disconnect the fuel pipes from the fuel rail and place a botle over the steel fuel pipe and get mate to turnover car and c if u get fuel and then remove spark plug lead, and use an old plug and c if uve got spark and how strong or faint the spark is,if thats all ok then remove the intake pipe pipe off the turbo and see if theres any oil or play in the turbo,

it done that on me when i owned it mate when i went to start it from cold it would just turn over ,then if i got out and locked the car and waited for a few mins then unlocked the car with alarm fob and put the immob fob in it started up no prob, also at the same time the lights in the speedo and banana pod went real dim.could be a prob with fusebox starting to break down as they usually start going with fuel pump probs symptons,,id also get over to the www.escortrscosworth.com site and get a fuel pump rewire loom off frasier (promiteaus) on there .

MAP sensor or MAP sensor pipes split or come off?

Black smoke is ussually overfuelling, mine ran pooply when the pipe came off, black smoke, it would hardly rev.

Good luck getting it sorted.
