loking to change the carb on my 1600 Pinto engine, just for an old skool feel. Would like to keep it a standard Ford part, what is best straight fit, 2.0 litre? Its for a Mk2 Sierra if that makes any difference.

 

32/36dgas twin choke weber from a 2 litre pinto works fine with a k&n follow up with an ashley 4branch &system old skool sound ...sweet

 

Depends on what else you are doing mod wise, and what you have to start with ?, as this will dictate what is a straight fit, but the 32/36 is a ace carb, but will be DGAV and not DGAS.
You can also if tuned use a 36DGAS, or even 40DFI, if you can find one.
Some 1600 had the Pierburg 2E3, which as a carb I would have before a webber any day, as once sorted is far more economical.

sound advice, i think that's exactly what i'll go for as i need to keep it a 1600 to be at least semi-economical for work. If its too quick i'll boot it everywhere.

Tabetha, i've got no idea what set-up the car uses, it's a bog standard Sierra Azura with 1600 Pinto and the mods i'll be doing will be limited to above, a manifold, exhaust and bigger carb. Maybe at some point a cam but i doubt it. What do you reckon would be best on that, 2.0 Pinto one?

 

The thing is there are at least 3 different carbs fitted to your cars engine, so without knowing which one it is there is no guarantee the webber will go on.
The 32/36 dgav is a excellent carb that can be made better for free!!, given the choice if it were mine I would be putting on a pierburg, probably the only carb everyone else will tell you not to, and 99.9% of these have never tried themselves so don't talk from experience.
Economy in my experience will be 5+ more mpg with a pierburg, and better power, once sorted.
